Not unexpectedly, notable names such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland are all on the nomination list for The Best of FIFA 2023 award.

A few minutes ago, FIFA just announced the nomination list for The Best 2023 title. This is the award for the Best Player for the period from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023. It should be emphasized that The Best 2022 was awarded after the 2022 World Cup.

Therefore, The Best 2023 will not count achievements at the World Cup taking place in Qatar. However, the 2022 World Champion and Argentina team member currently playing for Inter Miami, Messi, is still on the list of 12 nominated players. Meanwhile, Messi’s former teammate at PSG, Mbappe, is the only French representative present.

With a historic treble (winning Champions League, FA Cup, Premier League) last season, it is easy to understand that Man City occupies half of the list with 6 members, including Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva , Rodri and Ilkay Gündogan (German player who just joined Barca).

The remaining players are Marcelo Brozovic (Al-Nassr, former Inter player – Champions League runner-up), Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli) and Declan Rice (Arsenal, former West Ham player).
